Hi,I did the following:
pros and cons of wrist braces/support for gymnasts?im involved in gymnastics and practically everyone has braces (not teeth braces) but like ankle braces, wriste braces, elbow, knee... but what are the pros and cons of braces...... like we've been told once you start using wrist braces you have to use them for the rest of your gymnastics career because if your take them off... your body is so used to support that you'll brake your wristes.
im asking this because my 11 year old teammate has wrist pains when ever she tumbles. she wants to start using tiger paws but that means she would ahve to keep using them forever... sorry this is written confusingly

Many bodybuilders have the same problem. I personally only wear a brace when I have pain, other then that I wont wear one because my wrists wont get stronger. I dont think you should wear one unless you have pain.

I think that braces should only be worn if it is nessessary and there is pain, otherwise it is almost pointless. I used to wear tiger paws for a year or so for gymnastics and then I stopped and my wrists were fine, so I dont think that your teammate nessessarly would have to wear them forever. She should only wear them if they would really help her wrists.
